Printmaking
.
Printmaking is an artistic discipline in which the artist uses different printing techniques. An image is drawn on a rigid surface, called a matrix. This matrix leaves an imprint that will later be filled with ink and will be transferred by pressure to another surface such as paper or cloth, which allows for various reproductions of the stamps.
There are different techniques for working metal plates: engraving, aquatint, etching, drypoint and lithography.
