Biography
Rafael Navarro, artist from Zaragoza, born in Requena (Valencia).
He began his career as a self-taught artist in Zaragoza in the 1970s. Since then, this painter has won more than twenty awards in numerous national competitions.
The professional life of this artist from Zaragoza has always been natural paintingcharacterized by recreating in oils the landscapes of his land with an increasingly impressionistic style,looking for the effect of light and color.
His latest project, Paintings of Aragonwhich he presented at Fundación Caja Rural de Aragón in Huesca last year 2023, brings together oil paintings made in the last three years, transferring to canvas the most beautiful landscapes of the Alto Aragonese. The Benasque Valley, the surroundings of Jaca, Broto, even the Monegros.
In love with the landscapes of Alto Aragon, he has impregnated with his talent every corner of the community: the Guadalaviar River, the Vero River, the Lobo River, Panticosa, the millenary Carrasca de Lecina or the Ordesa Valley, among others.
He has had nearly a hundred solo exhibitions and almost 300 group exhibitions throughout the country, France, England, Mexico and Argentina.
He has also done different fresco paintings in the churches of Cubel, Villanueva de Jiloca, and the monastery of Monlora. He has painted the sets of several zarzuela plays for the Teatro Lírico de Zaragoza, and is the author of works as diverse as the postage stamp dedicated to José Martí and the ceramics of the Puente de Piedra (Zaragoza).
He is a member of the Spanish Association of Painters and Sculptors.
